The main issues in Toronto, Ontario

Housing affordability

Housing was one of the contentious themes during the municipal election because of the well-documented problems causing Toronto's alleged housing crisis. In Toronto, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in October increased by 27.5% from 2021 to $2,474 per month.

Maintaining the parks

Particularly in the spring, when park visitors rose due to the nicer weather yet restroom doors remained closed and water fountains were turned off, park upkeep in Toronto became a contentious issue.
Low taxes and city policies were criticized by the incumbent mayor's detractors for problems in Toronto's parks.

Street safety

Residents believe that there are not enough sidewalks and bicycle lanes in the city, making life and safety of residents difficult and dangerous. The speed limits do not prove to be effective enough either, so the residents are increasingly concerned about their own safety, so they ask for reconsideration. There are of course those, on the other hand, who oppose these measures in many places, which is why the topic is a constant source of conflict in the city.
